Gabonese militias have annulled the results of election which president Ali Bongo had won a third term in Gabon.

Twelve military officials appeared on television channel Gabon 24 announcing that they had taken power after election body declares Bongo as a winner.

They were cancelling the results of the election and dissolving all the public institutions as the way of keeping harmony in the country.

Witness have heard heavy weapons fire in Libreville, the capital city of Gabon.
